Widget integration with Google Analytics

To track Widget conversions in the Google Analytics service, go to the administration panel of your site in your Google Analytics personal account and open the “Conversions” section.

Click on the “Create conversion event” button and specify the appropriate identifier for each event. List of available events:

  • Event id vw_show – the widget was clicked for the first time
  • Event identifier vw_half – the video was half watched, while the widget was expanded at that time
  • Event identifier vw_full – the video was fully viewed, while the widget was in its expanded form at that time
  • Event ID vw_click – the visitor clicks on the CTA button of the widget

For the integration to work correctly, we recommend using gtag.js on the website. To install gtag.js in your Google Analytics admin area, go to the “Setup Assistant” section and click “Set Tag”.

In the opened window, go to the “How to add tags” section and select “Global tag (gtag.js)”.

Copy the code to the <head> section of your site.

From now on, you can effectively track the events committed using the Vidwidget service.

Do not forget to check the box in the Google Analytics section in your personal Vidwidget account.
